Hi all-

My husband and I are planning to relocate to Irvine, CA in December. We both work with international non-profits focused on poverty alleviation, mainly in Africa and Latin America. I have an opportunity to continue with my company, but that would require a difficult commute up to Monrovia.

Does anyone know of other Non-Profits in the Irvine area that are focused on any of the following issues: Fair Trade, human rights, women's rights, Micro-enterprise development, etc?

I've only been able to identify 3 relevant NGO's: International Medical Corps, Relief International, and Grower's First.

Any others?

Thanks!

-EH

I've often wondered about that, but I think that the L.A. area is unfortunately quite regional in character compared to New York City or Washington D.C., despite being the second largest metro in the country. The most you'll probably find are local or domestic/U.S. non-profit positions - I think it's a reflection of the regional (and unfortunately narrow) mindset of the region. I know people who openly proclaim that they've never been further than Las Vegas, or at the most, Tijuana. Sad... as though that were something to be proud of.

Did you ever find an international NGO in OC? I've just moved here and would be interested to work for something like that.
