Lol. They built a bunch of 4 story apartment building with commercial space in HB in the last few years. So. Don't see know they say they rejected high density buildings. Unless they are delisional.
There are at least 5 that I know of for sure and looks like at last one more being built. There is also a hotel being built across from Bella Terra. They already built a few apartment buildings on the corner there. And where the Lamps Zplus used to be that evoke block is green fenced and breaking ground.

I guess if it's below a certain amount of occupancy it's not considered high density

The contrast here is not high density but low income. High density, high-end projects like the one in Pacific City are going up all across HB. It's low income housing that keeps getting rejected.

There is a pretty strong movement to keep ALL high density under control. The city doesnt have the infrastructure or services available to support high density building. The building that are under construction have all been approved by previous city councils. The new city council put a moratorium on most of the new projects.

The city council is very aware of the power of the social media, since most of them used twitter and facebook robustly during their campaigns.

Yeah but even with these added buildings you still have a population growth of 2-3000 people minimum. I didn't see the streets get any wider or any type of improvement or accommodation for the additional residents.
Try driving into Bella Terra or anywhere near that place. Traffic is crazy bad there now. And they are adding a hotel across the street. Can you imagine what it's going to be like in 10 years?

Seriously. No traffic Planning. No Infrastructure Upgrades. We sure as hell don't want the developers that created the parking at Bella Terra designing traffic patterns.

HB should annex (unincorporated) midway city. The Locals get an HB address, and HB can put all the low income housing they want there ( I'm not really serious)

Midway City should either go into Westminster or HB or FV. But between Little Saigon and Bella Terra traffic has really gone up. If they ever redo Westminster mall wait and see the traffic patterns then.

Haven't been there in a while. I'm actually surprised that a developer hasn't torn it all down and redo a mega mall with shopping, cinema, walking promenade like they did Bella Terra. Do you remember how cruddy Huntington mall was? It was where stores go to die. And WM is a huge plot of land

That seems to be the way it's done these days. Tear it out and build new
