By the way. A lot of the Wikipedia information abot Santa Ana is incorrect. I do not feel like addressing each item, but look it up on more reliable sources.

Anaheim hills is a wonderful area as well. Foothill High Scholl in tustin is/was a pretty good school.

I thnk tha tthe top high schools are/were: University in Irvine, Troy in Fullterton. Oxford Academy in Anaheim, OCHSA in Santa Ana.

That may have changed, it does rom time to time that is why it is a bad idea to chose a school distrcit based on statistics. The statistics can change dramatically in one year. Go look at the schools and see what suits your children's needs.

Our Children attended a very good jr. high in Santa ana that had pretty bad statisitcs. they ended up with great grades, great friends and test scopres in the top 5% on national tests.

Hoopster -

Coto, Ladera, SJC, Nellie Gail in South OC; Anaheim Hills, Turtle Rock, Northpark, Woodbridge in Irvine, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach. All of these will deliver what you are looking for. You are very fortunate. Judging by your post, you have the $$ to make OC your oyster, and its one of the best oysters to have. OC has alot to offer someone in your position. What you've laid out is merely the entry level requirements for an affluent buyer in OC. It would be more helpful to know what else is important to you - Beach access, Diversity, Arts, etc.

But it's a test into school. And if the child is above 9th grade, you can't test into it anymore.
You can test in March at a school if you are in these grades: 6th, 7th, or 8th.

But, yes, it is the top school in the county.
Cypress, which is close to it, also places in the top 10 in the county (beating the negative Anaheim Union High School District stereotype, both of the schools)

the whole area is full of good schools, from whitney and cerritos to los alamitos, to oxford, cypress, and kennedy. artesia isnt that great, but for a ghetto school its pretty good. gahr fares a little worse.

In LA county Whitney in Cerritos is probably the top public school depending on how you judge what a top school is. It's scored a 985 API which is the top score in the state for a middle and high school combo, Oxford scores pretty much the same at 983. Average SAT is 2004 which is tops in the state, 1911 for Troy and 1903 for Oxford. Only problem is it's a test-in school but can be done any year but realistically the only chances of getting in are through any of ABC school districts elementary schools which feed it for the 7th grade.

There really aren't any 3600+ sq ft homes but only can find some that are 3000-3200+ though that many be tough in this market at least they'll all be under 1.5million

Whitney is also primarily asian the curriculum and course load reflects it. You go through a lot of hazing as a white person there as well, especially if you are in the upper tier of your classmates in performance.

Metrolink is the rail that goes from OC to LA, or you can look at the southeastern end of LA county where the Blue Line and Green Line terminate for LA Metro. As far as a "yard for a dog", budget, neighborhood desires, etc etc etc matter
