Which private schools would you recommend in OC? One son is highly gifted, other one average student. We are open to them going to different schools. Thank you.

For academics, I would look at Sage Hill in Newport Beach or the exclusive St. Margaret's in San Juan Capistrano (where much of South OC's elite send their children).

There are others, like the Fairmont chain of private schools, but the above two appear to me (complete outsider - don't have kids in school or went to them myself) to be a tier above.

The private schools mentioned by NJ Brazen_3133 are primarily parochial (Roman Catholic). Except Orange Lutheran, but still a religion-based school. Not a vote for or against, just pointing it out for information purposes.

I'm sorry that I have no personal experience with it, but you might want to add St. Mary's (Aliso Viejo) to your list of schools to consider:

About St. Mary's
St. Mary’s School is a private International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering Preschool through Grade 8. It is the only private school of its kind in Orange County...

Someone was telling me just the other day that the Cardon Conservatory in Huntington Beach was a very high end school. FWIW

St. Margaret's Episcopal School is a faith-based academic institution as well.

None. Most of the government schools in south OC are loaded with smart kids. The advantage of a private school is negligible. On the other hand, if you were looking in north OC or 90% of the city of Los Angeles, then private school is a good thing to think about.
