For anyone that live there....what kind of drugs are popular among the wealthy? Or is there very little drug use at all?

I don't think there is a clear cut answer to this question. Different people will have different assumptions.

I know cocaine is certainly present in some of the wealthy high schools. Studies done last year show, Laguna and Newport Beach High Schools to have the highest drug use rates in OC. They have the money to spend!

Drug problems aren't as "out in the open" here as in L.A. That's for sure.

Yes, unfortunately, the wealthy, the poor and the middle-class use drugs in OC. The Drug Court program is over-flowing with cases that confirm drugs are a rampant problem in OC.

Heroin is bigger now than ever. Meth is in every town thru out America. Drug use does not limit itself to any poor, Nicole Richie gets busted driving the wrong way on the freeway, admits at the scene to consuming Vicodeine and grass. And she has the crazy idea to plead not guilty to DUI??? Her buddy Paris was convicted of DUI and got a 2 year probation and a fine of $250. California has a 10 year probation and a fine of $1200 for most first time convictions.

I would say the drug use is evenly proportionate. The wealthy just get special treatment in courts.

When I was growing up in the 1970's in OC, almost everybody smoked pot. Heroin, though, made big inroads in the 1980's thanks to the punk rock scene while cocaine use was pretty common, too. A friend of mine from a pretty fairly well off family in south county had a wife that got hooked on crack and I know a couple of others who have as well.

The thing that used to crack me up, though, was that some of the hardest partiers I knew went to Catholic schools. I have no idea why that was. Too repressed maybe.

As a member of the early 80's OC punk scene I can attest first speed/cocaine 80/82 then by 84/85 heroin was huge amoung the youth.
I can't imagine it being worse now. I also remember kids hanging out and getting drunk on catholic school grounds at night. LSD was all around too.

probably pot. I read somewhere that OC is the pot capital of America. But pot seems like a lowly drug. AMong wealthy, my guess is that they are addicted to prescription painkillers.

Meth is pretty popular amongst teenage girls. It makes them thin.
