Check the Public Notice section of the classifieds in the OC Register. I see auctions posted all the time.

Best place to find it is by finding companies that perform the auctions. They list the location of the auctions they perform. More bidders they attract the more money they make.

California Storage Auctions Mini Storage Auctions, Warehouse Lien Auctions & Legal Auctions, Auctioneers/Auctioneer & California Auction House

My advise is to do a lot of research. Don't bother going to auctions where the storage company is in a bad area. Lots of people just dump their crap (clothes, furniture etc.) and just forget to pay down the road etc. Try and find the auctions in better locations like newport beach, Huntington beach, and any of the south bay communities. Also don't bid on anything that has clothes, children toys or large furniture. Those items are usually bulky, difficult to move and have a low resale value. Try and find units that seem to have collectibles and are neat. Chances are if the unit looks messy the owners didn't really put anything valuable in there but if the owner made sure to box everything up and neatly pack it. Then it is a sign that the owners are trying to keep their items in good condition. Some of these units look like the owner backed their pickup truck up and just dumped everything in there, literally.

Yes, so many people store belongings for months or years and find that they have spent more than their stuff is worth. Often they run out of money or get busy then lose everthing in storage after paying all of that money to store it for so long.Is your storage unit costing more than what the items are worth? Sell your stuff at auction on eBay and get top dollar for your items. You don't want to waste money on your storage unit, then possibly run out of money and let the storage owner get all of the money when he auctions your belongings off. mod cut: solicitation removed

In most areas they legally have to post a legal notice in the classifieds. Just check the classifieds legal section.

probably better to check your cities local paper as opposed to the LA Times or something like that.

I think there's some books and ebooks on ebay about how to make money with those storage unit auctions.

tehre's also some youtube videos showing auctions

All you get to see is a picture taken of the inside of the unit before bidding. They cut the lock, take a picture and lock it back up.

All you wanna - bee Dave Hester's dont bother going to auctions in So-Cal. We Run you up so high you dont make any money or you just dont get to buy anything. All these new TV shows (storage wars etc.) Are staged. 1st of all all guns found must be turned in who wants a gun that has a murder on it?
sure you do find grandmas jewlery 1 out of every 25 units you buy but all the money you spend to get it eats up any profit you would make. This is a huge gamble its not a business. So good luck on your units if you do buy. "thats if i let you buy any"

1 more thing Yes I know all the retards on the tv shows except for auction hunters they are not auction buyers they are actors. And all that silver found by darral sheets was his it was not found in the unit. That $20k unit dave hester bought was half full he added restaurant items to make like he made 20k well that stuff is still in his store collecting dust. In this economy i dont see to many people opening a new restaurant. and that bald kid who is white and thinks hes mexican mafia cholo boy has to ask permission from his wify to buy anything is so broke he only gets the rat infested units that no one wants. So if you think your going to take your unemployement check and flip it, your wrong, save your money and go to the casinos you will have better luck. This is the truth about buying auctions. And one more heads up, the managers go thru the units before they go up for auction so if there is a jewlery box or safe its going to be empty 99 out of 100 times. This is a tv show people, its feeds on hope and greed. dont buy into the hype. Also dave hester made his money working for south coast auction, buying out estate sales from old people in liesure world, thats the 1 box he made 100k and it was a painting he sold at the auction house. and it wasnt 100k it was 180k i believe. This is the truth people.
