I know what you mean. A couple years ago, there was a huge fire in the sierras and when the rains came that winter, flooding and mudslides occurred. No forest canopy to protect the terrain.

The real issue is there is a thing called average rainfall. And Oregon nearly always make it on a yearly basis. If it skips a year, tie up the rowboats, cause the rain will come and the numbers will even out.

Please do! We just had to go out for a bit. The smoke is worse than ever. We can't see to the end of our street.....and we live on a short street. Everyone is driving with their headlights on. It's like driving in a thick brown fog. It's so horrible. It's sickening.

Oh geez, that's horrible! I feel for you.

I hope everyone will also try to check on any elderly neighbors in their area, to make sure they are okay.

have you tried a mask for when you have to go out? it can't be good for you, breathing that. I am making my dogs stay in and they aren't happy. but they are old!

We're staying in as much as possible. So is the dog. I think we're experiencing an inversion layer, which is good for the fires....it keeps them down a bit... but the air support cannot get in to make the water or retardant drops. And it holds all the smoke in. So, not good in that respect. Now they're predicting more dry lightning. None of this is any good at all.

Today is much better. Still smoky but the sky cover is less. I think we are getting more of a Westerly than a Northerly today. Bummer for K-Falls though.

I have this to pass along......

The Oregon Employer Council of Josephine County is gathering donations of new socks for our firefighters . We will make sure they are distributed to all three camps daily. You can drop them off at Worksource Oregon, 1569 NE F St in the Parkway Village Shopping center in Grants Pass.

Trust me folks, these are going to be VERY appreciated. You know what else will be big hits? Toiletries like toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, and mouthwash. You go out on fires and it seems like you never have enough of that. Mouthwash is VERY popular on fire lines and back in camp. No need for stuff like food and water. They are getting plenty of that.

There is something i'm not understanding.

The first two days of the fires July 26 & 27, the local TV stations & the Fire websites mentioned the 'Farmer Gulch Fire' 2 miles west of Wolf Creek.

The last few days there is no mention of the 'Farmer Gulch Fire' that I've seen, although there is a whole lot of smoke west of Wolf Creek.

The Fires I see talked about are,
Big Windy Complex Fire- west of Galice
Brimstone Fire-10 miles NW of Merlin
Douglas Complex Fire-7 miles North of Glendale

Does anyone have any up to date news about the Farmer Gulch Fire?

Thank You...
