So everyone knows, I am a registered independent and I vote for both Democrats and Republicans and once in a while 'other'. There were 2 things I was hoping for from this election, and I am gratified my wishes came true....

First, that Avakian lost (maybe the single meanest human ever to run for office in this state).

Second, that M97 failed. The state simply has to be held accountable for it's money and not pass off our failures onto others to pay.

Sorry if this offends anyone, but just had to say it. With respect.

^^^ 2 worthwile outcomes^^^

So sad the ghastly expensive campaign, funds the media, rather than the 'need-ia' in Portlandia. (or within Oregon in whole)

USA could curb that if they went to an 'educated' electorate. (and did significant campaign reform / spending cap)

I agree.

And Portland should be grateful that Steve Novick is out.

I agree with all of the above. Now to have the rest of the City Counsel office holders justify their decisions to the electorate. We deserve better.

Just read the fine print on 97.

It was equivalent to a blank check.

Oregon didn't need a sales tax to add on to an income tax. What does that equal? California.

Pure and simple. Keep Oregon affordable.

Even with that, Washington State still is better for workers. No State income tax. And any future proposals will be shot down.

I am happy that our governor remains in her position and that Oregon is a solid blue state. I look forward to voting 100% blue and making more of Oregon blue.

We voted for 3 ballot measures that call for spending money, but we turned down the measure needed to raise money. I voted no on 96, 98 & 99, because I knew 97 was going down. I would have voted yes on all if I'd thought 97 would pass. I voted yes on 97.

Where is the money going to come from for the veteran's counselors, the dropout prevention program and the summer camp run by OSU? Oh don't worry, the lottery will pay for everything. Yeah, right.

Typical Americans. We love our bennies but want to avoid paying the bills on them.

I voted no on the Outdoor School measure because it doesn't benefit all students. And other reasons, too. I voted yes on 97 because Oregon needs to look forward to its future and education is imperative to a strong economy.
