I think it is going to be a challenge. My only suggestion, as a landlord myself, is to be sure to mention those are retired track greyhounds and about whatever training they have. If anyone asks about dogs but doesn't tell me the breed of the dogs, I automatically assume the dogs are pitbulls. ( Because a rather large number of pitbull owners are out there constantly trying to trick landlords into accepting their dogs )

Greyhounds are big, which isn't going to help you, but many people are aware that retired greyhounds are non-destructive couch potatoes, and that does help you.

I would accept 3 greyhounds, not that it does you any good, since I don't have rentals in Corvallis. But I figure if I would take them, then maybe someone else will take them.

You might call the humane society in Corvallis and see if they keep a list of landlords who allow dogs.

We know we'll have to pay extra, deposits, rent....we are just flying blind from across the country.
This'll make it much easier for you (I wasn't trying to infer that you should get rid of your dogs; just pointing out that commercially managed properties can be tough to get into if you've got pets). I think you'll be able to find a private landlord if you network within the OSU community.

This may be of interest to you; I don't think it's limited to those on sabbatical. I imagine it'll be updated as people make plans for the next academic year. You can also place your own request:

Thank you both very much. I'm going to fly out tomorrow for a week out so I can assess in person. I guess we will look beyond Corvallis. I want to keep my dogs, but also have the best situation possible for my high schooler. We're opening up the search-Philomath, Albany, Salem...if anyone knows of properties I coud look at in the next week while I'm there I"ll have nothing but time. Thank you both again. Yes and you're right, oregonwoodsmoke, these dogs are 100% couch potato One girl is so old I don't know if she'll even make the trip, but we'd still have 2 7 year olds.
