The TV weather last night said we have had 56 days without rain, so today makes it 57. If the weather holds steady until September, we have about 40 or 45 more days to go.

Wait...it always rains on the State Fair. Maybe we only have 28 days to go.

Well, the rainstorm we had in June is what brought the lightning strikes that started several fires, so summer rain is always a mixed blessing.

From the National Weather Service, an air quality chart from AirNow (via the EPA). The data set only goes back to 2000. This includes O(3), PM2.5 and PM1.0. This is for Medford, for any major Oregon city, you can find the same data here: https://www.epa.gov/outdoor-air-quality-data

0.2 inches on the coast last night. It's not much, but it's enough.

We may have some rain today in S.Oregon. Not enough rain to put out the fires and if there is lightning we may have more fires....

Years ago, I was told it always rains on the coast by November1st. around Brookings. I don't know if thats true but from my limited experience it seems possible.

According to this site, the Willamette Valley and Portland Metro area won't see anything for the next ten days.

The NWS also has a possibility of thunderstorms in the Cascades bringing some rain but given the likelihood of dry lightning strikes also occurring in all that timber, this does not bode very well.

80 days without rain is fairly typical, but this yr should be a record breaker for high heat average (not hottest, but longest sustained high temps, w/o rain)
