I lived in Bithlo as a child from 1975 to 1980. I lived with my grandparents. Even 35 years ago it had its definite seedy spots, but it also had its nice, rural, well kept pieces of property. I guess it could have gone either way, trash moving out and decent people taking over or decent families moving out and trash taking over. Its a shame it seems to be the latter of the two.

I remember walking the dirt roads down to the Lil Champ with my friends to get popsicles, traipsing through the woods exploring, grabbing a fishing pole and heading to the pond to fish, Grandpa letting me sit on his lap and drive his car down the back roads. Everyone knew everyone and it was a safe friendly place to raise a child.

I imagine there must have been crime, especially as I said before there were some seedier spots down those dirt roads than where we were. I can only imagine how awful it is now, so I will just hold onto my memories and never bother to drive there for a walk down memory lane. I get the feeling it would be devastating.

I have rented in Avalon Park (close to Bithlo) and I personally did not like it. Bithlo is a lot more run-down, but the whole area is just congested. If you can, I would live closer to the Avalon Park area just because it is a lot nicer, and there is a lot more shopping/dining/entertainment nearby. But if you need to go into Orlando for work, I wouldn't suggest it. The traffic is a nightmare and 50 is just horrible to deal with. I personally wouldn't suggest this area to anyone.

Bithlo was an incorporated town, but in 1929 ceased to function as a town due to economic hardship. The city was finally unincorporated nearly 50 years later in 1977 but was not finalized until 1982 due to outstanding bonds and legal problems.it is situated in florida states.
