Along with distance from work, I was also concerned with the safety of my car, or getting broken into or stolen...

I've Googled till I can't see straight , looking for apts in the Orlando area. Question-(mind you I own a townhouse in Cocoa, FL where Section 8 abuse is rampant) Which is safer or more dangerous-Pine Hills or the Rio Grande area?

Pine Hills is probably a little better... but it's still bad.

Pine Hills is better in my opinion. There are actually some very nice sections of Pine Hills that I wouldn't mind living in, ex: west of North Hiawassee Road and north of Silver Star Road

I would definitely choose Pine Hills over Rio Grande.

This. North of Silver Star there are some nice homes, some of which were built by the same builders who built Hunters Creek, Southchase, etc There are some nice subdivisions along Clarcona Ocoee too from Apopka Vineland all the way to North OBT

West of Hiawassee is not technically part of Pine Hills, and none of Apopka Vineland barely even comes a mile to the borders of Pine Hills. So yes of course these areas would be more desirable.

The part of Pine Hills between Silver Star and Clarcona Ocoee is a dump, countless numbers of poorly kept homes especially around Powers.

west of Hiawassee Road was always referred to as Pine Hills to those that I knew who lived in that area. If not Pine Hills, what is that area called? Just Orlando?
