I think it makes sense. The Rays have an ugly stadium. I'm sure Orlando could build a big beautiful new modern stadium. Their attendance is bad. I think they'd have better attendance in Orlando. Moving to Orlando would make them further away from Florida's other baseball team in Miami (the Marlins).

I'd much much much rather have a NFL team, but then again i find baseball a snooze fest. I have to get drunk to have a good time at one. Is there any talks about this happening?

St.Petersburg is further away from Miami than Orlando so that part of the argument doesn't hold up.I'd rather have them in Orlando but honestly unless the tourists start going to the games I dont think attendance would increase over what they get in St.Pete.Florida and baseball overall will never draw like in other cities up north.

I don't think it would work either, baseball just doesn't sell here in Florida. As good as both the Marlins and Rays have been in the past, yet still struggle with attendance it's clearly not the product that is lacking. Even though we produce many high school and college prospects the culture just doesn't exist here the same way it does in the northern cities. Soccer is a better draw for Florida due to our international population.

You want to take Tampa's team away from them because you feel Orlando is more superior? Apple87 this idea of yours is not cool and very self centered. I like Orlando, but every city can not have everything. Lets see how the MLS does in Orlando long term. The Magic still dont have a strong fanbase. I was there at Amway on a Friday night. The arena was half full. Someone made a thread like this before about wanting to take the Jags away from Jacksonville because somehow they felt Orlando was more superior. No one is trying to take the Magic or Solarbears away from Orlando, so why does Orlando crave other metros teams? Especially ones in the same state who are NOT Miami. I dont get this attitude. Leave the Rays where they are in Tamba Bay.

I totally agree with a lot of your points, but I wouldn't say the Magic don't have a strong fanbase. The team is absolutely terrible, and more and more fans are realizing that the rebuild is a failure. Consistent winning is a long way off for this team. There are only a select few NBA cities that will still fill arenas when they are bad. Orlando is like most areas that when the team sucks, you don't pay your hard earned dollars to go see them. They are currently #15 in attendance, which is really not bad.

That said, I think baseball would be a huge failure here. Not enough disposable income for too many people, and far too many games on the schedule to support. NFL would do fine I think, but the Jags support is acceptable for their record and outlook. They would fare no better here.
