Low income doesn't equate to low class so please refrain from ugly comments, keep scrolling if you have nothing nice to say.
I am looking for affordable housing for my family of 5. My husband has law enforcment experience but hasn't worked in 2 years due to several surgeries and illness. I am an LPN and have work lined up when we get moved. I want to stay under 1500 a month until we know he will be able to find at least something part time and we know how much I will be bringing home with the differences in taxes from where we are now. We won't be ready to buy until next year. I just want something safe, and clean. I have 3 young children. I have been reading reviews and have been hearing some horror stories on some of the income restricted properties and would like to find some with more recent reviews to gauge the reliability of these reviews. I am going to be doing home health and agency nursing so I will be all over the city so location isn't an issue other than not wanting to be downtown in the business district type areas.

Thanks so much for any input you may have.

Steer clear of low income housing if at all possible. It's not highly policed and if bringing kids into the equation, even worse. Check out these options which are at $1500 per month or under, in safe areas minus the concentration of people you want to avoid.

Thank you so much for the information. So you’re saying these areas are pretty safe?

Yes, very much so. The more central area of the city around the mall has held desirability for it's conveniences like the mall, shopping in general including a newer Whole Foods, a major regional medical center, Crane's Roost Lake Park, and better road structure than West Altamonte for instance which relies on two major roads to handle most of the traffic.
