I have never had a myspace, facebook, etc nor have I ever been interested at all in getting a page. I see facebook as a legal breech of privacy that you setup yourself and also simply a place for gossip. I do see some pros to facebook....it makes it easy and convenient to keep in touch with out of town relatives and friends. But do people seriously have 2000 "friends" whom they are ok with knowing everything about their lives?? Maybe I am not seeing all the advantages to it, but for now, I can't stand it!!

No-one's forcing you to join!

My wife set up a Facebook page for me and I totally forgot about it, such is my interest in such things. But I don't despise it, I ignore it.

When I tried using it, I despised it, now I am happily indifferent!

There is something so very creepy about it. I have always been turned off by social networking sites. I guess we're in the minority.

You are both right!....no one is forcing me to use it and I definitley shouldn't waste my time and energy on something that I don't use. However, I feel like it does affect me negatively indirectly through my wife's facebook page. I guess I should have clarified as to why specifically I depise it. It has caused problems such as ex-boyfriend related to people that I work with or rarely associate with that happen to be "friends" with my wife on facebook that know personal information about me and what is going on in my life. I didn't really want to make this personal, just more of a general post.

Then your problem is with your wife sharing too much private information, not with Facebook. The medium she uses to share this information is not really important.

You're right....I think that's why I probably didn't say anything about my wife's facebook page on the original post, because I think I already knew that lol, but didn't want to admit it. It's just easier to blame facebook I guess. So, I have already talked to her about not sharing so much private information and I do trust her. I guess now I need to just stop wasting my time even thinking about it....

In general though, I think it's changed our entire social system for the worst....

facebook is ok. I'm not addicted to it nor do I hate it. I come in everyday, for five minutes and leave...and wait for a couple of hours and check it out again. I know some people who hates facebook and bashes people who have facebook. That's even more immature.

I don't despise it so much, but I do despise the politics that come w/it. I only have it for family & close personal friends. But even those people can be something else, so I hardly go on it, don't play those stupid games, (Really, who has that much time???), and I don't have the app on my phone. Like the above poster stated, same for me, I just go on there once in awhile and get off as quickly, because theres never really anything drawing me to staying logged on FB. But I do have to say, I never left it open having friends that I'm not close with, co-workers, or old childhood/high school/etc friends (although I had a few what I thought were close friends-old childhood bestfriends, but I got rid of them), because that's how trouble starts, if you leave the door open to it....then you got all the garbage of people deleting you, or leaving stupid comments for all of your whole world to see, to me its just not really something I want to deal with....
