Good morning! It's definitely autumn now. Rain, mist, falling leaves....gotta love it.

Here's some questions that fell out of a tree and conked me on the head, either that or a squirrel threw an acorn.

FYI, Spinx had two QOTDs and agreed to let me host Thursdays. Thanks Spinx!

Today's Question:
Today is the 36th Great American Smokeout sponsored by the American Cancer Society to encourage smokers to quit.
Are you a smoker who would like to quit? or Do you have a family member or friend you'd like to see pack it in?

One of my family members quit a few years ago, and it was really tough. Do you know anyone who has successfully kicked the habit?

Maybe: "Pack in the pack" could be a slogan. I know, not so good.
Can you think of a slogan that might help a smoker to quit?

Bonus Question:
Many of you remember the TV show Frasier and how the dad had an ugly, but comfortable, chair that Frasier hated.
Is there a piece of furniture or an ornament that someone you live with likes, but you (barely) tolerate?

Is there something you like that others tolerate?

Inquiring Minds Question:
What timezone do you live in?
How many timezones have you been to in a single day?

Just for fun:
Years ago Barbara Walters famously asked Katherine Hepburn, "If you were a twee, what kind of twee would you be?"
Of course she said "tree," but in that special way she has of speaking.
So here's your chance to take a question from the well-known celebrity interviewer: If you were a twee what kind of twee would you be?

Today in History:
1558 - Elizabeth I became Queen of England upon the death of Queen Mary this day and ruled Great Britain and Northern Ireland from 1558 to 1603 while England became a world power.
1800 John Adams was the 1st President to move into the White House
1851 - The U.S. Post Office issued the first postage stamp to depict an American eagle. First ever nationwide stamps were issued in July 1847 with portraits of Washington and Franklin.
1954 - Golfer Arnold Palmer signed a contract with Wilson Sporting Goods and became a pro.
1993 - The U.S. House of Representatives approved the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), by a vote of 234 to 200. The Senate voted 60 to 38 for approval of the legislation on November 20. The bill was signed into law by President Clinton on December 8, 1993. It took effect on January 1, 1994. Under NAFTA, the U.S., Canada, and Mexico become a single, integrated market with $6.5 trillion worth of goods and services annually.
2010 - A construction site in London revealed a Roman settlement filled with ancient artifacts and human remains

Today's Question:
Today is the 36th Great American Smokeout sponsored by the American Cancer Society to encourage smokers to quit.
Are you a smoker who would like to quit? or Do you have a family member or friend you'd like to see pack it in? Quit smoking what?... No, I enjoy smoking when I drink beer or go to the casino. And I can go weeks without a ciggie. And I do all the time. But when I smoke, I can go thru a whole pack.

One of my family members quit a few years ago, and it was really tough. Do you know anyone who has successfully kicked the habit? Yes. My companion smoked 4 packs a day for 50 years. He quit cold turkey. Of course, I HAD to quit for him to make it. So I did. Now he is smoke free.

Maybe: "Pack in the pack" could be a slogan. I know, not so good.
Can you think of a slogan that might help a smoker to quit? Eat my tar and die!

Bonus Question:
Many of you remember the TV show Frasier and how the dad had an ugly, but comfortable, chair that Frasier hated.
Is there a piece of furniture or an ornament that someone you live with likes, but you (barely) tolerate? Ha ha. All our furniture is ugly. We have a couch with a fold out bed that I hate. It is ancient and it weighs a ton. All our furniture has sentimental value, most of it came from the 70s. We have one called "Bill's Chair" that belonged to a family member who died of cancer. That is his chair and only the dog uses it. Well, 99% of the time.

Is there something you like that others tolerate? No.

Inquiring Minds Question:
What timezone do you live in? Okie.
How many timezones have you been to in a single day? From OK to Hawaii.

That's easy. A sequoyah!!

Morning everyone! Right, smoking. I have never smoked, I think it is a disgusting habit that
for some reason, many people like. My father smoked, and although it did'nt kill him directly,
it contributed to his bad health at the end of his life. Both my sons smoke, hopefully, they
will stop, but that's up to them I guess. My wife's mother has an ornament she found buried
somewhere many years ago. It is in the small bedroom out of the way. She thought it was an ancient vase, till I managed to convince her it is just heavy plastic. Time zone? I don't really know, am I GMT plus 1 or something? I know I'm five hours ahead of America's east
coast, and 8 hours ahead of the west. Have a good day!!

Today's Question:
Today is the 36th Great American Smokeout sponsored by the American Cancer Society to encourage smokers to quit.
Are you a smoker who would like to quit? or Do you have a family member or friend you'd like to see pack it in? Not a smoker, never have been. I have nieces who smoke. I'd like to see them quit not only for their own sakes, but because of their little ones.
My mother was a smoker. She's been gone almost a year and you can still smell it in her house.

One of my family members quit a few years ago, and it was really tough. Do you know anyone who has successfully kicked the habit? My dad.

Maybe: "Pack in the pack" could be a slogan. I know, not so good.
Can you think of a slogan that might help a smoker to quit? I don't think a slogan would help.

Bonus Question:
Many of you remember the TV show Frasier and how the dad had an ugly, but comfortable, chair that Frasier hated.
Is there a piece of furniture or an ornament that someone you live with likes, but you (barely) tolerate? I live by myself. As we're getting closer to Christmas though I'm thinking about some of the ornaments we made as kids and my mother put out every year. My brother has moved into the house, so I doubt we'll see them this year. In fact, if we ever see them again they will probably be in the trash.

Inquiring Minds Question:
What timezone do you live in? Eastern
How many timezones have you been to in a single day? Not being someone who has traveled far, only my own.

Just for fun:
Years ago Barbara Walters famously asked Katherine Hepburn, "If you were a twee, what kind of twee would you be?" There is a beautiful big old tree at St. Gaudens. Can't remember what kind it is. There's another old tree on the back line of my property. It reminds me of an old man leaning back and looking up at the sky. I guess the kind of tree, for me, doesn't matter. I'd be old, with deep roots.

Off to school, no more time to think about trees. Have a good day!

Good morning!

Today's Question:

Are you a smoker who would like to quit? or Do you have a family member or friend you'd like to see pack it in? I don't smoke. But I wish my cousins who do stopped.

Do you know anyone who has successfully kicked the habit? My father.

Hubby's armchair. I never liked it - not that it's ugly, but it's just not the style of chair I like.

Is there something you like that others tolerate? Ask hubby!

Inquiring Minds Question:
What timezone do you live in? Eastern
How many timezones have you been to in a single day? Several, if the journey through different zones counts!

That's a good question, but I haven't a clue what twee I'd be, lol.

Today Is:
World Peace Day There shouldn't be just one day for that - there should be peace everywhere, all the time!

Have a nice day!

And don't be surprised if you don't see me for a while... we are going on a vacation! I'll see you the week after Thanksgiving!

Good morning! It's definitely autumn now. Rain, mist, falling leaves....gotta love it. Mornings a teensy bit cool are always nice instead of the 96% humidity and 71 degrees we have this morning at 6:30am in Tampa.

Do you have a family member or friend you'd like to see pack it in? I have never smoked but I grew up inhaling it with both parents smoking. My dad died with lung cancer at age 61. My mother didn't stop smoking until a few years after he died. I have one cousin wearing the patch and trying to quit. Her sister has a variety of health issues but says she will never give up her habit. I don't think words or slogan works for any smoker. IMO, it depends on whatever is in each one's heart, mind and soul slamming into a moment that motivates quitting.

What timezone do you live in? Eastern
How many timezones have you been to in a single day? Two
If you were a twee what kind of twee would you be? I love Palm twees

2010 - A construction site in London revealed a Roman settlement filled with ancient artifacts and human remains Very interesting. I would like to see the artifacts.

Homemade Bread Day Yum!

Today's Question:
Today is the 36th Great American Smokeout sponsored by the American Cancer Society to encourage smokers to quit.
Are you a smoker who would like to quit? or Do you have a family member or friend you'd like to see pack it in?

I wish my son would quit.....again.

One of my family members quit a few years ago, and it was really tough. Do you know anyone who has successfully kicked the habit?

I smoked heavily from the time I was 17 until I was 60....and then 11 years ago....I QUIT!
Maybe: "Pack in the pack" could be a slogan. I know, not so good.
Can you think of a slogan that might help a smoker to quit?

You really can do it and we will help you and stand by you.

Bonus Question:
Many of you remember the TV show Frasier and how the dad had an ugly, but comfortable, chair that Frasier hated. no
Is there a piece of furniture or an ornament that someone you live with likes, but you (barely) tolerate?

We have all that pretty well worked out....some things he came with .... I didn't "relate to"..... and our tastes are a little different.....but if I realize he is really fond of something...I begin to see it in that light.

There was a really big ugly broken recliner...that I really didnt like....he realized that and began to see his recliner thru my eyes and after several years he suggested we get new leather recliners.

Is there something you like that others tolerate? There has never been an issue....we are used to asking...."to whom is this the most important" and going from there. Also the house is big enough that we can move things around...from down stairs to an upstairs room etc.

Inquiring Minds Question:
What timezone do you live in? Eastern Standard Time
How many timezones have you been to in a single day?

Oh my when we go to Japan from the east coast we must pass thru 7 time zones....including the international date line where you either lose or gain a day.

I believe I would choose to be an American Oak tree......sturdy, trustworthy and strong.
The American Elm tree (resistant to Dutch Elm Disease) is a lovely, graceful and gracious tree.....stately and beautiful...I could choose to be that.

Thanks for the questions of the day.
