Tell us a little about your first day at elementary school (or if you really can’t remember, your first day at high school).
So long ago! When I was young there was no public kindergarten. I remember sitting with an older girl on the bus, daughter of parent's friends who had been asked to help me. She stayed with me until we got to school & her friends were there. I didn't know anyone. A bell rang and someone told us to line up with a partner. It seemed everyone had a partner but me. I didn't think I could go in, because I didn't have a partner. I remember looking down at my red shoes and crying. An older woman asked what was wrong & said she would be my partner. It turned out she was my first grade teacher. I loved her from the start.
While it wasn't the first school I taught at, I did teach at this school for ten years. Sadly, it's empty now. Extra Credit Question:
Today is Shrove Tuesday – will you eat pancakes today?
No When was the last time you ate pancakes?
I don't remember. Bonus Question:
When was the last time you loaded new software onto your computer – and what was it?
All the computers I use, including this laptop, belongs to the school. Any new software is loaded by the tech guys.

I clearly remember something that happened at the end of my first day of elementary school:
My parents sent me to Catholic school. I wasn't sure what bus to take home so I asked the school principal who was standing outside. She scolded me -
"next time pay attention in class!" I have that vivid memory on how mean she was to a lost 6 year old kid to this day.

I had to look that up as I never heard of it. I was planning on eating at IHOP today but it has nothing to do with the religious tradition.

I can assure you there is a zero chance that will ever happen. I've been living in this current apartment for almost four years and I have only had 2 guests (four times total) over during the entire time.

Tell us a little about your first day at elementary school (or if you really can’t remember, your first day at high school).
I started school in Canada....altho my family was American....we were living in Canada. The elementary school was very close to my house...but still further than I was normally allowed to go by myself....so it was an adventure....walking up to school with my brother and the other kids.
My earliest memory was the teacher instructing us in the proper etiquette demanded and expected when we sang the national anthem....."God Save the King". She impressed upon us that this was serious business... to stand at attention...no fooling around.....and even "if a fly were to land on your nose....you can't twitch or brush it off until the song is over!" I dont think an actual fly landed on my nose....but I know my nose started to itch the minute we started to sing....But I retained appropriate control to honor the ruling British monarch.
Extra Credit Question:
Today is Shrove Tuesday – will you eat pancakes today? Now that you mention it.....I just might!
When was the last time you ate pancakes? Not that long ago...perhaps a month.
Bonus Question:

I dont know what this means but I did something with something that flashed on my screen this morning about updating Flash or something or other.

Elementary school, which one? We moved around so much I probably had 4 different schools between grades k-6.
No champagne here, its either a beer mug or regular drinking glass. We're not 'formal' folks. Sorry.
