I know a horse and had a cat named Maxwell. Always ends up just "Max".

Over here many would associate that name with Robert Maxwell, a thieving, devious individual who ran newspapers over here.

He disappeared at sea, many thinking that he didn't want to face the music of having raided the newspaper's pension fund.

So, in answer to your question, I don't care for the name.

I like the name but have never been around a man with the man. But I see it often in books and hear it on TV. Maybe next male cat or dog I adopt I'll name it Maxwell!

I suppose it depends on how you plan on using it.

Good name for a pet, kinda stuffy for a little boy.

You know there's Maxwell Smart, agent 86, so it can't be all bad.
