We once got invited to my sister-in-law's house for something she called a "princess party." I wasn't sure exactly what that meant, but I was game. When we arrived it turned out that she was selling a line of cookware and glassware from a company called Princess. I thought it was going to be a real party. What a shock! We bought one item and left as soon as we could politely do so.
As Miss J was tied up on the UK date for this event, she is meeting up with Mrs J today, but I'm working.
I was at a bit of a loss for today's peeve but a thread on another forum gave me an idea.
Ever had a friend or relation, or maybe a neighbour, try to sell you something, and felt awkward about it?
Let us know because that is exactly what the POTD is;
A friend or relation trying to sell to you.
Years ago my brother had his grown daughter (early 20's) contact me asking for money to help fund a trip she wanted to take to Guatemala. I couldn't believe this. My brother and I don't exchange gifts with each other or regarding our children. I have never even been out of the US myself, why would I pay to send my niece on a trip. I couldn't afford to give her anything anyway, but I found it offensive.
We once sold a car to a relative and they kept bringing it back for us to repair at our cost.. ....like it was our fault the car broke down after several months......they bought it as is....so they got mad at us when we started refusing to fix it......NEVER AGAIN!
Think the only things I've had friends or family try to sell me is something their kids are selling, i.e., cookies, raffle tickets, etc. I used to LOVE girl scout season and all of those yummy cookies
Rural chick makes a good point about things being the other way round!
Oh, and that is a young Miss J.
