Good morning peevers.

I hope that none of you are too bad the worse for wear after any celebrations you may have had.

We had a very nice time with a large group of friends at someone's house last night but didn't leave it that late coming home.

Mrs J and I are now at our desks in the study, she on TweetFace or something like that, and me here. Miss J is in Scotland- Edinburgh, and having a lovely time with BF and his family.

The weather is foul with heavy driving rain in quite brisk winds, but it should get nice for tomorrow.

Meanwhile what is there to peeve about?

Well the obvious one is the fact that here we are in a new year and if you have to write or type something with the date in it how long does it take the brain to realise that it's now 2014?

The POTD is;

Continuing to write 2013.

"TweetFace or something like that," you're funny, Jez! I'm glad you had a good time last night despite the weather. We stayed home, drank Champagne and watched others make fools of themselves on live TV. I prefer to make a fool of myself in the comfort of my own home, thank you.

Here's one way of avoiding the New Year date problem: in your checkbook (is that called a current account book in England?), write "2014" in the date line on the first 25 or 30 checks. Then when you fill them out, all you have to remember is the day and month.

Of course that doesn't work if you're posting Peeve of the Day, Today's Tip or Questions of the Day, but oh, well. It's a start. Happy New Year!

Hey Shep- what a good idea regarding those cheques, I mean checks- no, they're cheques.

Here is a photo taken exactly one year ago, and believe me there is no way I'm going out there at the moment to take another one!

Here's an excuse to go through some shots taken in 2013 starting with our Caribbean cruise in February/March;

May "Continuing to write 2013" be the worst each of us encounter in this new year.

Wow, great pictures, Jez. Is that you in the ship's cafe wearing the white hat and looking très continental? That ship looks bigger than some cities. Hi, Poppy. Incredible shots of the whale's tail and the yellow butterfly.

Dirt Grinder, I concur heartily that writing the wrong dates on our checks/cheques should be our biggest problem in 2014.

Oui, c'est moi.

Mais je ne suis pas continental, je suis 'an Englishman abroad'

I hope that writing 2013 on my stuff is the only thing which affects me in 2014. I don't write many checks, as I have most of the bill payments taken out of our bank accounts automatically. But I always flub up on some important paper and write the previous year. SIGH

Hello Poppy. Those photos are just great. Hope your cruise was great....our last cruise brought in a hurricane and no stops to the places scheduled....instead we went to Key West....it was an awful cruise let me tell you.

Jezer....wanted to tell you thank you for taking the time to post this thread each and every day. What dedication. Happy New Year my friend.

To everyone, have a great year. Stay safe and healthy.

Happy New Year peevers! Thus far I haven't written the year wrong, but then again I've only been awake for a couple of hours so the year is still young

Wishing everyone healthy and happy.

Oh for sure I will be writing 2013 for at least a few weeks or longer.

But

If that is the worst in 2014.......we are ahead of the game buy a skillion miles.
