Oh it's just unbelievable.

When I worked concession at the movie theater, at age 15, a drink was $.20 and popcorn box $.15

QUOTE=Steve Bagu;50527245]Recall going to McD for their .10 cent burger deal.
Wife would prepare the tom/lettuce etc at home then we went to the local drive in movie on a Sat night. Soda in cans 2/25 cents then.
Cheap family meals and entertainment.
Just look at today's prices.[/quote]

The owner of our local theater may have been a coin collector, because you could see the show for a Buffalo nickel.

The prices that stand out for me are gasoline prices. Gas was only 17 4/10 cents per gallon when I was in HS, and the seemingly overnight raise from 36 9/10 to 55 9/10 for regular took me by surprise. A friend was visiting and said that he put $10 in his Caddy's gas tank, and I responded by saying, "That'll be the day that I put $10 in my gas tank." (I drove a 1961 Corvair.)

Well, I didn't say "never," did I?

I'm so old I remember...

Gas Embargo early 70's.. gas was going up... 45--55 cent a gallon.. and wait in line a hour. And saying I will quit buying gas when it hits a buck.. 1965.. 28--33 cent a gallon depending station.. and those gas wars with the stations on all 4 corners.
And good old Texaco.. every one dressed in white.. tip the hat.. the chrome money coin changer.. check all fluids - check air pressure in tires - check wiper blades... and pump the gas 28--33 cent a gallon..

I remember gas being 28.9 cents a gallon when I got my NJ license in 1963.

My brother had to sit in line to buy mom's gas. This is why you have kids.

I remember in 61 or 62 there was a gas war gone on in our area and the gas stations were giving the fuel away at 19 cents a gal. Normally 28 or 29 cents a gallon was the going price.

Nothing like now when we’re paying $2.30 to 2.50 a gal in the southwest and it was only a year or so that the price was $1.80 ~ $1.92 a gal.; So what happened in the past 18 months?????????? {{{That I don’t want to remember}}}

McD used to be a nickel.
And at Burger King, you could get a whole meal, Whopper, Fries and a Shake, for $0.85

I remember eating in the car at drive-ins. They would come to the car, hang a tray on your window and give you your meal. Most of them were A&W root-beer..... with carhops
