Are there any other old ladies here who had a pinafore when she was a little girl? I had one and it was my favorite dress. The only time I got to wear it was to Sunday School.

Me too, I remember it was such a long walk from the house and worse in the dark of the night. Rural living back in the late 40’s & 50’s wasn’t easy.
I live in a rural area and a lot of people still have those, I did until I moved into a small town that has garbage pickup service. (From a larger town about 20 miles away.)

When the family moved to SO CA we Han incinerators for trash burning, they were banned a few years after we moved because of air pollution.

Speaking of the 40's....
I vividly remember finding sugar rationing stamps in the kitchen drawer. Fun time! I licked them all and pasted them in my sister's coloring book. YIKES! Boy, do I remember that!!!!! Parents were more than "distressed", and my sister threw a real tantrum, which made matters even worse for me.
