When did you last send a handwritten letter to someone? - This past Sunday. I wrote the IRS asking they not "steal" my tax refund. Yes, I put it like that. They are stealing it as a fine because I cannot afford the heath insurance the company I work for offers.

I'm predicting they will ignore my letter...

I filed back in March and I just got notice of their threat which I was expecting. Thank goodness this will be the last year.

The healthcare system is so screwed up here.

Have you ever skated on roller skates or ice skates? Oh yes! Ice skating in winter on ponds or in an ice arena. Rollerblading when younger in an arena to disco music..oh what fun. Rollerskating once in a while in summer


If so, can/could you:

skate backward? Yes I still can
do a spread eagle?
jump over a small item? well lets say I tried it over a little stick or block and did not land gracefully
do an axel, loop, lutz or salchow jump? I can turn in a small circle and in the same spot for a few seconds but it definitely is not any of those mentioned here.
play hockey? Yes I played ball hockey/street hockey on roller skates with the kids when they were young. Whole families got involved on a Friday and Saturday night. We put fold-able lawn chairs up and enjoyed playing til it got dark. Those were the good old times.
stop without crashing into something? Ice skates definitely while on roller blades it is harder for me to stop while rolling down a driveway for example

Have you ever read a story aloud to someone? Yes every night I read a story to my children when they were little. Usually one story turned into two or three depending how long they were. I also used to read out loud to the Kindergarten classes for many years. Loved it.

Did you have a favorite novel when you were growing up? I had and still have so many German children books. I really enjoyed The Famous Five adventure novels written by English author Enid Blyton. As well Erich Kästner children books,Karl May and his adventure books,Wilhelm Bush and the list goes on

When I arrived here in Canada I had to read in high school Lord Of The Flies by William Golding,Catcher In The Rye by J.D Salinger,The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and several Shakespeare books. English literature suddenly became quite interesting although writing long book reports on them was not.

2009 for a lawn chair, a park bench and a chaise lounge. Decades for a swing or a hammock. Never for a glider bench and I didn't know what an Adirondack chair was until I looked for a photo of one and as it turns out, I sat on one 3 Saturdays ago.

The apartment complex landscapers are here right now, mowing the grass. There are flowers around the complex and right in front of my apartment are dark yellow flowers in bloom. I don't know what they are.

As a pre-teen, I liked A Wrinkle In Time (I still have that same book) and Nancy Drew books. When I was teen, I read several books a week. I mostly liked Agatha Christie novels (still have all of them), spy novels, science fiction and baseball player biographies. Of the classics, I liked 1984, Hiroshima, Lord of The Flies, Fahrenheit 451, Animal Farm, Brave New World and Darkness at Noon.

Name one novel that was required reading in your high school English class. I'll name ones I liked not previously mentioned - Othello (the only thing Shakespeare wrote that I liked), Billy Budd, Oedipus Rex, The Old Man and The Sea, The Scarlet Letter and The Crucible.

i have a window seat, with lovely pillows

all the time, i volunteer at a hospital and will sing to them, read to them, especially important as a compassionate care companion to dying patients

Lord Jim by Conrad for frosh high honors ......... it fascinated me with the ulterior dark motives of the universe
