Today's Question(s):

Do you turn you computer or certain electrical items off during a storm ?

I usually don't....in really unusual active storms....If I get frightened and then I do.
I once had a ball of lightening come in the house with me.....it bounced around the room like a basketball then hit the TV and it blew up. The room smelled as if the devil himself had entered....with fire and brimstone!

Bonus Question:
(in honor of National Convenience Store Day)

Which of the major chain of Convenience Stores can be found in your town ?

There is one of the 7/11 type stores....I dont know which one and I have never been in it. There is also a "Cumberland Farms Store".

Which one do you wish you had in your town ?

I am satisfied. Maine isnt known for having an abundance of franchise stores and I knew that when we moved here....actually there are more fast food and those gas station convenience stores in my area than I anticipated or need.

Extra Credit Question:

What was the last D/A thing you heard, that you So wanted to respond with
"ok where in the heck did you hear/read that " ? Well, best not say!

Today in History:
1859 - Charles Dickens' "A Tale Of Two Cities" is published
1892 - U.S. Patent Office says J. W. Swan, rather than Thomas Edison, invented the electric light carbon for the incandescent lamp
1914 - Babe Ruth debuted in the major leagues with the Boston Red Sox. Ruth made $2,900 his rookie season. Just six years later, his paycheck was worth $125,000 when he became a member of the New York Yankees.
1927- the first 7 eleven opened
1962 - Fred Baldasare is 1st to swim English Channel underwater (using scuba)

Hi QOD family! Karla, I doubt my MIL would "get" the QOD either!

Today's Question(s):

Do you turn your computer or certain electrical items off during a storm? No, but I probably should. My computer has the protection plug thing but not everything else does. Once, when I was younger, we had a bad storm come through, lightening struck nearby and the surge hit our TV - I SWEAR to you that when it blew a fireball shot out! My mom and I both saw it, grabbed our dog and ran screaming from the room! We were trying to find a place to hide! I've also had my ear buzzed by a lightening strike while on a landline phone! Later, when I was married, a really bad thunderstorm came through, struck a tree across the street (split it in half and it fell across the street), the surge ran through the power line and killed our TV. So, I should most definitely quit taking risks and at least turn off our TV!

Which of the major chain of Convenience Stores can be found in your town? We have several but I know one is Kangaroo and we might still have some 7-11's.

Which one do you wish you had in your town? No preference.

What was the last D/A thing you heard, that you So wanted to respond with "ok where in the heck did you hear/read that " ? That you could get a 2006 Jeep Liberty with 44,000 miles shipped from Las Vegas to SC (and back if you didn't like it) for $2900. And I said it - which was good because I helped keep my repairman from getting scammed on craigslist.

Post your favorite pet photo here.
I don't have one I can access to post of our dogs, the last of which died in '08. They were two beagles (Savannah and Delta) - sisters that were littermates. They were so funny and sweet; had so much character. We lost them a year apart; one to bladder cancer, the other to a tumor at the base of her neck (it caused Horner's Syndrome). We were heartbroken. I do have these from my phone of...

Cuddles, my Quaker Parrot who thinks I belong to her. She's a pain - lot's of personality but likes only me. She hollers if I walk out of the room - "Where are you? Where'd you go? You forgot me!". Grrrr...

This is Lucy (short for Lucifer), my son's Ball Python which I'm holding. Guess who takes care of her? But I love her - she's sweet and gentle and let's me stroke the top of her head which most pythons don't like. I also have the honor of caring for Penny (Penelope), his Bearded Dragon (no photo). She's a sweetie too, and the one I have to "poop". What a life I live!

And this is my granddog - he's laid back, obviously. He let's my daughter put Coor's boxes on his head. His best friend is a cat. He's a yellow lab named Ellington (after The Duke) and is a rescue dog. He's also probably the only grandchild I'll ever have.

1859 - Charles Dickens' "A Tale Of Two Cities" is published. That was actually a really good book.
1892 - U.S. Patent Office says J. W. Swan, rather than Thomas Edison, invented the electric light carbon for the incandescent lamp. WHAAAAT???
1914 - Babe Ruth debuted in the major leagues with the Boston Red Sox. Ruth made $2,900 his rookie season. Just six years later, his paycheck was worth $125,000 when he became a member of the New York Yankees. Bet he'd make a lot more now.
1927- the first 7-Eleven opened. That used to be all we had!
1962 - Fred Baldasare is 1st to swim English Channel underwater (using scuba). Whew! At first I thought he was holding his breath!

gauche\GOHSH\ , adjective: 1.Lacking social polish; tactless; awkward; clumsy.
I have the clumsy part down pat.

National Blueberry Muffin Day - my fav!
National Convenience Store Day - how do we celebrate that?
International Town Criers' Day - do they have those anymore?
All American Pet Photo Day - awwww...
National Cheer Up the Lonely Day - that's a nice thought.
Be Nice to New Jersey Day - people AREN'T nice to NJ? Hey, does this mean we have to be nice to NJMike?

My DD has Rhodesian Ridgeback. He was a "rescued dog" and she is (as far as we know) his 3rd master/owner.....I have never seen a dog, and a girl, more loyal to each other! And "Moe" very special to me, as well. I have looked for several hours, this morning, for my pics, of them, together. Found lots of other pics, but not the pics I was looking for, so this pic is for reference, only....
