Yeah, this is disturbing... Especially for people who must take daily meds. U know the drug companies or drug dealers as I like to call them r making serious profits while some people can't afford their prescriptions and that is enough to make me peeved.... Free meds for all
i sympathize with all of you that have meds to take....
my wife has some to take as well and one of them is not covered in our plan like the others.....
i don't have any to take from pharmacies,,,
but there is one drug that is grown naturally that,,,well you get the hint..don't you....
Fairly recently I calculated what my meds would cost out of pocket if I didn't have insurance, and the total was around $6500 per year!!!! And those are my regular, must-haves ~ it doesn't include the ones I take only once in awhile. Only ONE is available in generic and that's the cheap medicine (of course!).
One of them I am on because they're the only choice that works. I don't know what I'll do when I have to retire, because I certainly wouldn't be able to afford the Cobra costs of my plan.
As someone else mentioned already, it IS disgraceful. Even a 30% savings (like in Canada) wouldn't be a big enough for some of these higher-cost meds. The most expensive one I'm on is not new; I've been on it about 10 years. I do think it's high time that America stops subsidizing meds for other countries. That may sound cold but why should so many of OUR OWN do without????
Our med script costs are over $3500.00 per month. Insurance covers a good portion of it but there is a window area where we have to foot the bill.
Canada's government subsidizes their countryman's medical costs, but you generally have to wait months before seeing a doctor no matter how sick you are. I hear a lot of complaints from Canadians about this situation.
What they charge for medication is totally absurd! How much can it possibly cost to mix a few chemicals? It is based on supply-demand top dollar profit rather than people getting the medications they need.
I'm fortunate that the only medication I use is Ventolin for my asthma.
Once a year I fly to Tijuana and stock up, and also bring back some Ampicilin.
And while there, I visit my Dentist and whatever medical practitioner I wish to see, as well.
And, no, this is never a penny-wise-dollar-foolish-trip. The folks in San Diego have it made!

That sucks. And many Americans have to leave the country and go to Mexico for medical, dental, and prescription meds. It's crazy
