I do the same thing. It's my "to do" file. Anytime I have an idea or something that has to be done I jot it on my "to do" file.

Every morning I wake up it's the first thing I will check. Eliminates my bad habit of having multiple notes all over the place.

I like the pack of gum idea but would forget what it is there for! I can't do the note reminders either I lose them. So I write things on the palm of my hand. I always see it there and read it!
