I n.e.v.e.r thought my dad would watch Rumpole. But he was totally hooked. It's a bit of a "thing" with people who love Rumpole. We can spout all the lines and put them in everyday conversation. The closest thing to a cult I belong to.

I haven't seen Upstairs Downstairs in years, I might just have to watch it.

No. 1 Ladies was a series of books. The miniseries on DVD is so well done, and quite funny. My husband loved it. Pillars of the Earth is also definitely husband friendly.

I'm behind the times, and just got around to watching John Adams, that's also good (and husband friendly).

Thanks for the tips! I'll add those to my list - then take a look at my library's website and list of DVDs...how exciting! I'm getting really discouraged lately - I go look for something to watch on TV and it's so difficult! So many channels and so little to see....

OK Question for you fashionistas and I'm not about to ask it "over there" on the Fashion threads. It gets tremedously hot here in the summer. Up over 100 degrees for months at a time, hot. I don't like wearing shorts all the time. Especially on long car rides with the sun beating into the car. I have a few pair of pants that are very light weight cotton/poly mixes but want a few more.

I get a lot of clothing catalogs and since I live in the boonies I do a lot of shopping by catalog. What fabric do I look for that is light weight? Obviously I can't feel the material in a catalog. I see Tencel/cotton, stretch twill (cotton/spandex), twill, cotton twill. Which would be the lightest weight? Not wrinkling is also pretty much a necessary as I do not want to iron when it's that hot outside. Mucho thanks if any of you can help here.

Linen, and *raw* woven silk (not satined silk or silk/poly blend). I'd avoid spandex, personally; stick with natural fibers and light colors, and loose weaves (think: 1960's hippie gauze).

LOL! Sorry - couldn't resist given the last week or so....

Anyway...I'm no help here...I go for cotton then be sure to take it out of the dryer quick. But I don't mind a "not pressed" look . Now, I won't wear sloppy wrinkles but not pressed doesn't bother me - much to my mother's chagrin

You could by linen. Even though it wrinkles I have found Downy Wrinkle Release spay to be magical. I used it exclusively in college. Another thing that helps wrinkles fall out is if you hang it on a hanger in the bathroom while showering the steam will help the wrinkles fall out.

Jersey can be light weight too.
