I think I was misunderstood. I do not think a child should spend anytime in a daycare if that child has two parents that take on the responsibility of his/her care. It can be worked so a parent has the child all the time.
Really it can? You wanna pay my bills so that my husband or I both don't NEED to work and can stay home with our child? I think I can make it work that way.
I was a stay at home dad for about a year and a half. I kept the house clean, ran all the errands and even homeschooled my son for a while. The biggest downsides for me were catching flak from my family, not getting respect from working fathers, and not being able to make friends or even talk to other adults all day. I was also a little depressed about not contributing to the finances, even though, as my wife pointed out. I was saving us a ton of money in daycare expenses. When I would take my kids to the park, none of the stay at home moms would talk to me, they all thought I was either hitting on them or some kind of loser for not having a job. I think there is more and more support for stay at home dads and it's becoming more acceptible, yet there still is a stigma.
If we could do it financialy, I would love to stay home with my daughter. she is such a daddys girl lol. I would also like my wife to stay home. But financialy it is not doable at the moment. our daughter spends her days with my mother in law, or her aunt. as long as we can keep her out of daycare we will. Alwase with a family member all day (would prefer it to be us, but family is the next best thing)
