Portia- well, wasn't this the name of the heroine in Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice?
Both pretty names, IMO.

Some people seem unaware that the car brand was named for a woman named Mercedes.

From the bottom (least popular) 20 names in 2013:

Girls: Tess, Judith, Charity, Karly, Astrid, Magnolia, Estelle

Boys: Darien, Clyde, Brendon, Denzel, Pierre, Leroy, Truman

A little something for everyone. The bottom of the list is very interesting. If I were naming a baby today I'd probably start there.

Speaking of cars, I always think of a Lexus when I hear the names Alexa, and Alexis. On my grandmother's Baptismal Certificate her name is written as Alexia, which means Alice in Latin.

Such a pretty name, but unfortunately ever since I took that class in Disability Studies, I can't see alexia as anything but a disorder.

Wow. My kid's name is in the 600 - 700 range. My name--which screams "late 1950s!" isn't even listed.

This list is really interesting. Susan, an extremely popular name in the 50s, is 844. Heather, which used to be so ubiquitous, 837! Neither of my kids' names, which are not weird, are even on the list. Well, one is on there with a different spelling, in the 800s.

My daughter's name is in the 700's but with a different spelling. Her name with its spelling apparently fell off the list in 2007.

There is a 22-year-old Susan working in a store near me. I was shocked when I read her name tag. She said she was named after her aunt.
