LONDON, February 1, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Seriously disabled children should be considered non-persons and would be better off having been aborted, according to a Peer speaking in the House of Lords Tuesday. Attempting to couch her assertion in terms of children's "rights", Molly Baroness Meacher told the Lords that children born with severe disabilities are "not viable people".

Oh dear, I think there might have been a better way to get her message across.

If this is true, then she should line up the living disabled children and kill them. the logic is the same.

Quoting article:
Quote:
Baroness Tonge, a leading supporter of the Voluntary Euthanasia Society, said that the children referred to were not "disabled human beings" but "grossly abnormal human beings". Citing the "grotesque appearance" of children with anencephaly, Tonge said, "many of those whom I have seen bear little resemblance to human beings."
I am totally pro-abortion rights, but the Baroness' phrasing smacks of someone who favors such measures because, well, those "grossly abnormal human beings" offend her sensibilities. I'm even getting this imaginary vision of a pinch-faced female speaking in a high, genteel voice; perhaps accompanied by a delicate shudder and slight turning away of her head.

*yecch* The Baroness should look in the mirror if she wants a true visage of a "grossly abnormal human being".

....oh wait. UPDATE:
I did some research on The Baroness. Apparently Britain suffers its own version of Ann Coulter (better known as The Coultergeist). She's been the subject of several columns.
Comment is free: Lady Tonge: an apology
Quote:
Her strategy works like this. First she accepts a peerage, styles herself "Baroness Tonge of Kew in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames" and adopts the airs and graces appropriate to that station. Then she selects the traditional topic of conversation in the House of Lords - evicting impoverished people from their lands - and hams it up magnificently. Then, in perfect mimicry of the peers who for centuries have claimed from those benches that they know what is best for the poor, she hilariously pretends that a land-grabbing exercise is in fact a social welfare programme.
She plays all this with a perfectly straight face, until her listeners are gasping with rage and incredulity, and demanding that she and all the other barons and baronesses are flung out on their arses and replaced with elected representatives.
Greater love hath no baroness than this, that a baroness lay down her credibility for her subjects. Instead of attacking her, as I have done, we should offer our gratitude for this extraordinary act of self-sacrifice. She has shown us what we must do. We must call for that which she most desires: her expulsion from the legislature, along with all the other unelected halfwits in the House of Lords.
Looks like the British columnists play their own game of whack-a-mole with politicians, same as ours. Just when you think twits like Tonge have made the ultimate egregious, stupid remark (the above article was about evicting a small band of Bushmen from their native lands), they pop up and say something else that lands them under the hammer of the press.

Maybe it sounded better with a British accent.

Well my kid is not "seriously" disabled, but in some countries my kid would of been tossed outta the family and thrown into an orphanage or aborted had they know what disabilities he has.

Sad people don't respect life - everyone has to be "perfect".

Kind of reminds me of Marie Antionette's comment "let them eat cake" when they had no money or food.

One more sign that the aristocracy is pretty out of touch with real people. She probably wouldn't be raising a child that was so called normal, she would be handing them off to someone else.
