Normal infant garments fit children measuring 5 - 7lbs. Many infants will exceed infant attire in an initial couple of weeks. Keep it straightforward and purchase object free rudiments like this essential short-sleeve bodysuit.
Infants will wear different outfits a day in view of muddled victories and spit ups. The quantity of pieces you truly require relies upon what number of heaps of clothing you need to do a day. Here's a fundamental agenda:
A tiny baby doesn’t need “outfits” or jeans. If it’s cold they need soft sleepers, or gowns that are gathered at the bottom, and if it’s warm they can get by with the onesies that snap at the crotch. That and blankets are all they really need at first. They grow so fast that most other things only get worn once anyway.

Add me to the bandwagon on this... my kid lived in onesies / sleepers for the first year. I remember grousing that he was not going to be wearing separates until he was potty trained (lived to eat those words, but oh well).
And I would recommend at least 10 onesies, and 3-4 sleep sacks (if your baby takes to those).
As a mother of 3, I honestly think that is WAY too much for newborn size.
If you expect baby to be an average weight, (7.7lbs in the U.S, although all 3 of my children exceeded 8 lbs)- I think most parents should just aim for 1 week of NB size and put most of the investment into 0-3 month clothing and beyond.
A 3 pack of bodysuits and a 3 pack of NB Pajamas should be more than sufficient- plus a going home outfit.
I do have to say though, my oldest was the only baby I mistakedly bought NB clothes for- he was 8lbs 15oz and 21" tall, and didn't even fit in his NB going home outfit
I honestly just bought 0-3month stuff for the other two. Even if it was a tiny bit big at first, at least they got to wear it for more than a week!
New mothers, God love them. They can’t wait to dress those little babies up in a bunch of cute outfits, etc. Just say no....you don’t need to waste your money. If you have extra money, then knock yourself out.
Zip-up sleepers (so much better than trying to get all of those snaps lined up)
