I think that dehydration is definitely a concern. You may need a trip to the ER if it continues.

When my toddler is sick I'm always so glad that she is still nursing because she also tends to refuse any other food or drink, but she wants to nurse non-stop, so at least I know she won't be dehydrated.

Excuse me, why are you asking a bunch of nitwits on a message board this question? Why the heck aren't you at your pediatrician or in the emergency room?

Good grief, you need to have your head examined.

How are we nitwits? We are telling her the same thing you are.

CPG, I think I understand the intent of your post. Perhaps the word "nitwit" was a bit harsh, but I think you were merely encouraging NYC to get off the computer and get moving toward the doctor/hospital. As much as we all seem to want what's best for NYC's little one, we are not her doctor and we can only offer non-professional, long-distance "advice".

Perhaps one reason NYC is here online instead of on her way to seek physical help is fear of looking silly. A lot of women put off going to the E/R or phoning the doc because "what if I'm wrong?". "What if I'm blowing things out of proportion?" "What will they think of me if I'm just being a Worried Wanda?" And one of the worst ones, "I don't want to be a bother".

To NYC: please don't let that kind of thinking stop you from getting help for your precious little one. Even if it turns out to be "nothing", better to err on the side of caution, right? Off the computer with you, dear. Please get in touch with your medical professionals now.

Because we're not doctors, that's why. She might as well be asking her dry cleaners what to do.

Do her eyes look sunken in, and/or like they have dark circles? This is another sign of serious dehydration.

I nearly lost a little one to a severe asthma attack, because it was the middle of the night, and I was "afraid I was overreacting." I also almost lost another little one in a situation like you are describing beacuse the ped kept telling me to wait it out. Take her somewhere else if your ped isn't giving you healthcare or answers to your satisfaction. I took my daughter to 4 different places before someone admitted her, and she was there, in a Children's Hospital, for two weeks, while the docs scratched their heads and fed her IV fluids (which were all she could keep down).

Take her to the ER. If you are not satisfied with waht they have to say, take her somewhere else. Docs are not always right.

I hope she's better soon.

Default Yep.. go back to dr or ER

Just chiming in with everyone else~~because "dehydration" is nothing to mess around with and it can happen rather quickly, get her some additional medical help if she is not getting at least liquids down by now.

i'd say forget this forum and go to the ER

Also start visiting specialists until you get a response to what is going on.
