I just emailed FOX and told them I will no longer watch House. I used to like the show, but when he says he'd like to watch the two women have sex, that's enough. My 15 year old walked away uncomfortably and I turned it off and went directly to my computer to send them an email. It seems ever since the election, TV has upped it's gay tendencies and forced it upon us to watch. I don't care what people do in their bedrooms, but I don't want it in my living room without my consent! Enough already!
I strongly object to this recent trend too. The media is more and more liberal and has totally eliminated quality programming for this inferiority. What irks me even more is that certain types of music will be used. Now, when I listen to something like jazz, I feel as if I am listening to the soundtrack of a pornographic film. The point is that the media is using all sorts of bait to sell products like this.
I agree with the OP here. The FCC has a government website that you can object to things like commercial advertising of offending and objectionable subject matter during inappropriate times. www.FCC.gov has a complaint form. I've used it before.
Last year just before Valentine's Day there was a commercial for lubricating jelly and I almost choked. The commercial was shown many times during the day and early evenings. It was made very clear in the commercial what the jelly is used for. How crass do they have to get? It was like porn.
Don't even get me started on the drug commercials. With some of the side effects, people would be better off with the original symptoms. And unless the drug is OTC, it's a moot point anyway, so why drag the general public through all the commercials? It's not like we can rush out and purchase a drug that can cause suididal tendancies, etc..
Everygreen, you make a good point. Nothing is sacred anymore when it comes to selling sex and drugs.
It's bad enough the amount of prescription drugs advertised on TV on a constant basis, but from about 9AM on Sundays, there have been Cialis and other erectile disfunction drugs advertised, then it goes all day and into the evening. I've noticed it during primetime as well.
Who wants their young children learning about erectile disfunction (erections in general) from TV?
To add to that, around Christmas and Valentine's Day, there have been commercials for lubricating jelly during times when children watch, or are around. Those commercials have women making suggestive statements and behaving seductively to lure men to the bedroom.
My daughter is old enough to see how inappropriate the sex commercials are, but what about the younger children who may be playing in the living room while Dad is watching the game on Sunday afternoon? Or the young one who watches early primetime TV (granted, there isn't much there, but still).
I don't have cable, and neither do a lot of people, so there aren't a lot of options. We've always enjoyed the Sunday morning news program and following political discussions, not to mention some of the sports in the afternoon, but it's sickening to see the drug companies making money selling sex while children are watching TV.
It isn't that children should be completely sheltered from the facts of life, but broadcasting it on national TV isn't exactly appropriate.
What do you think?
You have to remember that the jews who run TV only care about how much money they make, so don't expect them to care about your concerns.
You do have a choice--get rid of the TV. We have never had it and we don't miss it. We will watch movies on the laptop. My husband listens to the games on the radio or internet. A few times a season, he will go to the bar to watch a Packer game.
I agree 100%! Network TV is garbage, I all but gave up watching it 40 years ago. There are many, many better things to do with your time.
