Default Manheim Central vs Manheim township schools

Hi again,

I heard that one school district in Manheim should be avoided, but the realtor didnt say why and i forgot which school district it was.

Between these 2 schools which are the better and why? Manheim Central or Manheim Township?

In Lancaster County that is.

Thanks

Tony

The Manheim TOWNSHIP schools are funded by the more wealthy folks in this area. They are considered the "best" public schools in the county, b/c of the tax base (read into that, "better" test scores, "better" programs) that funds them. The township is definitely more upscale than the town of Manheim, which is more rural, and a completely different school district. I don't know why they would say to avoid Manheim Central, though. I would try to avoid the School District of Lancaster, and perhaps the Columbia School District- but not Manheim Central. It's on par with the other districts in this area. If you are inclined to keep up with the Jonses (SUV, bigger house, certain social set) then MT is probably why the realtor said that.

Yeah, sounds like the realator wants you to buy a more expensive house in Township rather than a cheaper on in manheim borough. The borough isn't bad at all. The city and like oldie said, Columbia should be avoided.

MT is the lesser of two evils. You have the same stale conformity in both places, but the MT kids are less likely to react violently if your kids don't fit in with the herd.
