lititzman2003,
I have lived in Lititz, PA since 2008. It is now 2011 and I still have not met any people(or person) that I feel that I can call friend. Even the people at work are just people I work with and nothing more. Some still will not treat me as a co-worker and do not speak, but they will go to foreign countries and help the orphans(which there is nothing wrong with that) except that I feel that charity or whatever should begin at home. There are no clubs that I feel that will fit me at this time in my life to join(I am a widow with no kids). The people are so cold and unfriendly. I have spent my time here buying local and trying to be friendly to no avail. I love the small town feel but there is a limit that a person can take in regards to the (outsider) feeling people regard you with. You are right about them holding their hand out with a smile but they will freeze you out the minute you may have a difference of opinion. They will play at being your friend just to find out information about you, then the first chance they get they use it against you if they can. At this time I can honestly say living here is worse than living in a big city. I wish there was a club for newcomers in Lititz. I have checked online but it just does not look very promising. To everyone one thinking of moving here, please think again.

I'm sorry you're having a difficult time here, grinpa. We've been here over eight years and have the same problems that you do. We tried getting involved with our church, community activities, etc but we still feel like invaders. We've given up and just focus on our property and our own lives.

Default So true

Welcome & thanks for speaking up, grinpa. You are 100% correct, the vast majority of local people here are definitely from the bottom of the barrel, mean as hornets, nosier than you ever thought possible, & as lititzman so aptly put, speak out of both sides of their mouths. They try very hard to find some "dirt" on you to use against you. They have been having a very hard time with me, since I never even got so much as a parking ticket. That's why they resorted to going through my mailbox I think. Here's another wonderful story about life in Lancaster: Last January, on a very cold day, something catches my eye outside. Looking out the window I see a man standing a few feet from my building, looking around. I called the downstairs neighbor to alert them & the husband says the guy is probably a process server looking for me! I have NO criminal history, am a quiet neighbor, mind my business & keep my home immaculate. These people SUCK. Consider us your friends, grinpa; I would be honored.

Thanks ki0eh for the Hiking Club post....Checked it out on line and it seems to be through a lot of private properties and at this time of year it is going to be too cold to hike. Perhaps will call next spring and talk to them in person to find out more info.

Want to say ,,,,,Thanks for the friend invites. It was wonderful of you guys....

RE: Lititz - I would think a place with a mousetrap factory would be pretty solid. Talk about bread and butter industry!

There is irony in that, BayArea! Unfortunately, there are more rats on two legs here then four.
