This is as noted in Wikipedia:

Christmas (IPA: /krɪsməs/), also referred to as Christmas Day or Christmastide, is an annual holiday celebrated on December 25[2] that marks and honors the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.[3][4][5] His birth, which is the basis for the anno domini system of dating, has been determined by modern historians as having occurred between 7 and 2 BC. The date of celebration is not thought to be Jesus' actual date of birth. It may have been chosen to coincide with the winter solstice,[6] which the ancient Romans celebrated on December 25.[7]

In light of what happen in NY, on black Friday, did we as citizens of The United States of American, forget the true meaning of Christmas?? Now over the past few years I lost a lot in my life. Mom & Dad, and I for one will be the last person arriving at any kind of holiday party. But why must we make this day out to be more of a war zone then a holiday.

People just be grateful so many of you still have family members left! Don’t be worried if little Johnny, misses out on that special toy he wanted. Teach your kids to be great full of the little things in life such as having mom or dad home for Christmas.. It’s not about what kid get’s the best toy or who get’s the most expensive gift! Just be happy you all have a home to celebrate it in!! With loved ones around you and food on the table. It’s the little things in life that mean the most, that I think so many of us including myself forget about at times.

I concur. I don't like to judge but I am disgusted by the actions of those peopled who trampled on that man.

Americans have had it so good, for so long, that we take everything we have for granted. I'm guilty of it myself, but I try to catch myself as often as I can, and consider how even just having a weather tight home and indoor plumbing puts each an every one of us far ahead of millions of people in the world. Money for electricity and internet connection to use with a computer in our own home. No civil war, no terrorist insurgency, no famine, no ruthless dictatorship

We are all blessed more than we can comprehend..

People need to read & utilize the words instead of just humming the melody....

YouTube - John Lennon - Happy Christmas (War Is Over) Lyrics

Christmas has become a 'gimme gimme gimme' holiday. I can't stand it. I've managed to make plans to do dinners or make cookies together with friends instead of exchanging gifts. At first a few people were a little put off by it, but after a few times they realized that time is more precious than any gift out there and spending it with friends is the best gift of all.

Check out www.simplifytheholidays.org for some great ideas that cost little to nothing, but mean a lot. I'm giving everyone a copy of this!
