??? ??? ??? ??? ??? Not everyone can get hired everywhere, at all times, in all markets. I filled out plenty of apps before I got this job. As I actually work in a convenience store handling cash all day (burger flipper used here as metaphor for menial labor), my unfixable bad credit is a hiring obstacle.
You should write ebooks. I bet you would have great success. You come up with so many excuses--shows a very creative mind. I am serious with this suggestion, but I bet you will have an excuse for why you also cannot do this.

I'm sure the question has been asked before, but is there some reason that you are unable or unwilling to take some steps to improve your human capital such that you can command greater pay?

I've never had my credit run for any job I've ever had.
You live in an expensive metro area, but you don't live within walking distance of a fast food joint? I live in an inexpensive area with small population and I live within 1.5 miles of a Chick-Fil-A, Whataburger, McDonalds, Papa Murphy's, Moe's, Subway, Starbuck's, and a few other restaurants, a Casey's gas station, and a Walmart Supercenter. I would consider 3 miles or less walking distance to work. You could do that in 40-45 minutes, or 15-20 minutes with a bike. When I was in grad school and gas went up to $4 a gallon I started riding my bike 6 miles to campus every day in the heat of Orlando. I couldn't afford to pay that much for gas. I would just bring a change of clothes.
Maybe I don't know how fast food works...but is every single place ALWAYS hiring? Can you easily transfer from one franchise location to another? If you've worked at McD's is it easier to then get a job at the Chick-Fil-A down the road?
I know in metros like Chicago there are a lot of fast food chains with no franchises until you get to the suburbs - why go to a Wendy's when you have a great mom and pop shop on the corner?

A-ha! I have long wondered if that wasn't the case.
