There is one old wise lesson hardly ignored here is go for quality instead of outer look. All these cars chased nice fashionable skins or shapes and the engine was quite same as old Model-T that run by 20mpg at some setting.
Wholesale gasoline prices are up to $4.25 today on hurricane fears. That means by next week we will be looking at a national average of at least $4.79 at the pump.
Probably higher state taxes and overhead (mainly the land the gas station sits on probably costs more than out in the middle of nowhere).
$80 a week stinks man, sorry to hear that.
I just paid $3.86 in NC today. Normally, we're about $0.07-08 below the national average, but Ike is continuing to affect supply to our area, as well as to much of the southeast.
I doubt that major spike in prices yesterday will affect prices that much, if at all. Oil's now about $104 per barrel, so gas should continues its decline.

Guessing where oil is going to be priced is really tough. Fundamentals of supply and demand seem to dictate continuing going down if recession is severe. Kind of good news -bad news. Good news is it's cheap. Bad news is you don't have a job to drive to!!
