Yet another announcement of the W Hotel to be built at 15th and Chestnut: Plans for two hotels at 15th & Chestnut taking shape. I wonder when they will stop issuing press releases ("Hey! We're building a hotel!") and just start building it.

I don't remember if it was this thread or not. But one poster, about a month ago, was adamant that ground-breaking would happen in September. But this article pretty much indicates that that won't happen.

Summers -I'm not sure we ever heard back from you. Do you have any inside knowledge on a firm ground breaking?

Last I heard from Mr. Lenfest the project was set to break ground in September. I don't know if these are still the plans or not.

Thanks for getting back with us. I saw no date in the article, which I would have expected, given September starts next week. Hope your info is correct. It would be nice to see that spot in the heart of CC filled with a project as nice as this one appears to be.

Even though it's only a garage, this looks pretty cool: Auto Park at 8th and Filbert Will Look Like a Bright Spaceport - Rendering Reveal - Curbed Philly. And it's certainly an improvement over this: https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9520...kw!2e0!6m1!1e1. More good news for the Market East transformation.

Yeah, that will definitely be an improvement-8th street between Filbert and Market now is pretty dingy to say the least. I was glad to see the Century 21 signs out on Market near there too-this area is definitely getting some much needed vibrancy.

This kinda confirms what I've been sensing - that there is something of a small boom here: Phila. third in U.S. in new construction jobs

Now - if they'd only break ground on the W Hotel

Don't you realize that Philly gets worse every day? They must be building more slums!
