It's been quiet on the SLS on Broad. Heard a rumor the chain is in trouble. Right on Walnut - any info?

August or September groundbreaking. Shortened a little bit from 47 floors to 45 or 44 floors. Lowered the number of condo units.

Wasn't there also something regarding funding from PA and the budget mess which was kinda resolved?

Not sure if anyone has been following Blatstein's Broad & Washington saga.

Broad & Washington: Anatomy of an Unvote - Property
ZBA votes in favor of Blatstein’s 32-story Broad and Washington project, then takes back decision | Passyunk Post

Blatstein's absolutely terrible design is hated by everyone (except him), and all he needs is the ZBA to approve. KJ has a bill out to stop development on that site, but that legislation doesn't make any sense. Not sure what will come of that.

Across the street, we have Lincoln Square which is much more in scale and has gotten approval to move forward. There are some cool elements to this one, like reusing the train shed and a pedestrian-only street. Overall, kind of bland architecture, but I guess you can't have it all...

I hate his project there. Folks, try to remember that in the middle of this is the fact that NOTHING has happened with the old Inquirer Bldg. and it's gradually turning into an eyesore. No casino license and no plan B that he's talking about nowadays. Sigh. That mess is two block long, going westward, and will soon truly stick out on a revived N. Broad. The Divine Lorraine project(already has floors plans for rentals) will be finished before anything happens to the Inquirer Bldg.

I do like the Lincoln Sq project though. The name is kind of significant because I'm pretty sure that was the site of the " Phila. Wilmington Baltimore" RR station, in the mid-19th century, where Union troops left for the Civil War battles in the south.

Blatstein should be designing developments out in King of Prussia. He's 20 years behind in his designs, causing developments like this one to become a burden to the city. It's ridiculous that our planning commissions have no power to stop developments like this.

I remember reading that Lincoln actually visited the site as the troops left.

The Anderson Cavalry was from Philadelphia, but served in the western theater. I wonder if they left from there & went south before going west.
