I love Society Hill... my favorite part of the city... I believe Rittenhouse is wealthier though... not by much but it is.

It's that higher proportion of renters in Rittenhouse that brings the average down. In general Rittenhouse is perceived as more lively neighborhood, so a lot of younger professionals will rent there if they can afford.

agreed, similar amounts of wealth in absolutes likely, different nabes One with far more renters and income diversity. Regardless both very nice nabes

I tend to think of them as a continuum moving from east to west - with Wash West in between. If you walk the entire length of Spruce or Pine, you can literally see how the city grew and how the architectural styles changed over the years. It's really interesting and both streets are beautiful from end to end.
