Tried a steak there last year and found it to be nothing special, too gristly. Maybe I got a bad one?

Another reason why Center City is overrated
Sonny's is in center city and makes the best cheese steak i've ever had.

Right, especially when it's a "cheese steak sub" (whatever that is).

Although, a cheesesteak hoagie with mayo is pretty awesome.

Only reason I say that I wouldn't get one in Philly is because of the hype I see on television and what I read on the internet.
I would not ever want cheese whiz or anything other than a white cheese on it and I refuse to say "wit" or "witout" because, to me, it's just dumb.
I saw some place on a TV show and they refuse to serve anyone that doesn't order it the right way.

Just like I wouldn't ever go to any food place that refuses to have ketchup on hand for customers that want it. It's absurd.

Surely there must be places to go up that way to get a cheesesteak with the steak, onions, mushrooms or peppers and white cheese and you can order it any way you want?

Best one I ever had was homemade, using strip steak.
