Frankly, the whole idea of spending >$400k and living in a century old home is very unappealing to me. I will open our search. I would pick a cheaper brand new car over an older expensive luxury vehicle anyday because the cost to maintain would be low and it will be reliable. (Not sure if buying a home can be compared to a car purchase but this is how I think). that being said, wifey is focused on main line.
Will check out Springfield as well. Thanks

Springfield is mostly mid-century tract housing, just FYI.

There's some new town homes being built in Ardmore (Mainline) but I think they're $500K+

Would you please share where the new homes are being built? Not that I will buy and also wait for them but just curious.

How is Haverford town by the way? Thanks

Default Main Line looks like only option

Thanks, LHM.
Looks like Main Line is only option for now (Unless I am overlooking something).

Pros:
  • Good rail connectivity to AT&T station (closest train station to The Navy Yard) so wife can drive/train depending on season and traffic.
  • Connected. Walking is still an option
  • Good schools (We prefer Public)
Cons:
  • Old buildings
  • Expensive
Will check other areas as well. Thanks

All- Thanks for your recommendations earlier. After more than a month of open houses, tours of for sale homes and talking to Realtors in Main Line we have decided we will not get value. It's expensive, old and IMO, not worth it. We have expanded our search to Media neighborhoods but school district has to be Rose Tree and house should be close to 476. If anyone has any ideas on areas I should include in my search would be great. thanks

I think it gets too far from Phoenxville/Valley Forge and we would like some degree of walk ability.
