I spent Christmas in Philly this year and on Christmas eve I had the pleasure of visiting the observation deck in One Liberty. I've been dying to come to Philly to check this out since it opened, SO COOL!
Here are some photos I took on my iPhone (excuse the quality/reflections).
My sons and I met up in Philly the week between Christmas and NYE. Even though it was a cloudy day, I REALLY wanted to check out One Liberty's Observation Deck. We didn't get up there 'til 4:15 PM, but we spent over an hour there! It was so cool to see the city gradually go from late afternoon to early evening...street lights came on, buildings lit up. It was just magical. To us, worth every penny of the $19 fee.

Has Philly advertised this opening? I mean I know it has but has it really advertised it? I think its so cool how Philly has opened up a skyscraper for people to experience.
I don't recall seeing any ads. I decided I wanted to go after seeing a friend post Facebook pics.

Yes! My buddy and I actually went a bit earlier in the afternoon, maybe like 2pmish and stayed for about an hour (though I wouldn't have mind staying even longer). So I unfortunately didn't get to see the street lights/building light up; but that sounds awesome! Happy to hear you enjoyed as much as I did.

I definitely see this observation deck becoming more popular, a lot of people still don't know about it. And Yes, $19 is a steal compared to what they charge here in NY.

Cheers!

One of the things that really made it a nice experience was that it wasn't very crowded. You could easily walk around, and step right up to any window you chose. A couple of times, we had to wait while someone else used one of those giant iPad-like thingies, but people were polite and didn't hog them. Once word gets out, I hope they can keep the number of people on the deck at any one time at a manageable level. It won't be fun if you can't get right up to the windows to look out over the city because too many other people are in the way.

As an aside, I was thinking that the observation deck would be a REALLY cool venue for a cocktail party. Don't you agree?

I wonder how any of these folks have done the City Hall tower tour. Sure you are not as high but it still gives you a terrific view of the city below.

Yeah, I think as it becomes more popular it will become a little more hectic (hopefully not like the ESB observation deck). However, I'd imagine by that time they'll be a bit more strict with the number of people they admit, to keep the experience enjoyable.

And yes! That's the first thing I said when I entered, "Damn this would be a really dope venue for a party" Then I was told by the person I was with "Yeah, a couple recently got married up here." I didn't believe him at first considering how new the space is..but, he wasn't lying.

This was posted on their (One Liberty Place) twitter/or Instagram. So who knows..maybe events being held here will become a thing.

I HAVE!

Years ago..my mom/siblings and I did the city hall observatory. I have tons of pics I took from that experience as well, definitely great views. Considering it's city hall, it wasn't as flashy or as grand as 1LP, but still fun and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't gone up to hang with Billy Penn. The only creepy part is the tiny (I mean tiny)elevator you have to take up, they only allow 2 people (3 including the officer that escorts you up) in the elevator at a time. And man does it creak and crank all the way up lol, but its charming, part of the experience.

I always thought they looked great coming out of 15th Street Station.
