I have been downtown Philly quite a bit, but wanted to find a nearby hotel to boathouse row for Dad Vail. I suspect there is no vacancy near the event, but wanted to maybe hit a suburb.

There is Courtyard Philadelphia City Ave for around $250 a night, which isn't cheap by any means. No idea what that area is like? I just don't want to be right downtown, but like nice areas with self parking and mellow. Good food or ethnic food is a plus. University City is very expensive, so that is probably out as $400 a night is a little nuts for a sleep. Worse case I could stay downtown, but really not sure if I want to.

Thanks for any help. I would drive an hour away also, so if there is some cool place, that might work I am all ears.

It's fine where that Courtyard is.

Maybe try Air BnB or City Line Ave.

Book an Air-BnB in somewhere like East Falls or Fairmount.

Thanks. Sure isn't cheap anywhere around Philly I guess. I really want a hotel. I suppose I could stay further away.

Probably no air bnb for me this time around, but thanks for those replies as well.

The area near the hotel is essentially a business/medical district with lots of traffic moving on and off of I76 - you definitly need a car. NBC and CBS both have large TV studios across the street. Lots of mostly quality strip malls, several with restaurants and Supermarkets, line City Ave West Bound from the hotel. It might be of interest to travel just across the river into funky Main Street Manayunk to eat and browse. Have you considered staying at one of the many motels near the Airport, regardless of how you're getting to Philly? There are lots of small ones with rates in the $125 and even less range (Lester, PA) on Hotels.com. It should take you no more than 20 minutes to drive from the airport area to the event, during non-rush hours.

King of Prussia should be more budget oriented. Tons of food options in the Mall and New Town Center. Valley Forge National Park is right up the road and worth visiting.

Stop by Manayunk on your way to the regatta.

Psssst. NBC and ABC are the two stations in that area. CBS studios are on Hamilton St. in Philly (not far from CCP).
