Can you recommend which school districts in the suburban Philadelphia area have the best autistic spectrum support programs but will also serve my gifted child? My daughter is gifted (4) and my son (7) has mild PDD-NOS, with specific difficulty in his verbal and social skills. These are the school district areas we are considering relocating to (in this order): Great Valley, Tred-East, Unionville, West Chester, and Methacton. We currently reside in the Colonial School District region. While they do have support programs available, my experiences have been mediocre and the school’s overall ratings are average. We're looking for above-average. (Sorry Colonial fans.)

Thank you.

I have heard Tredyffrin was great in working with both gifted and challenged students, but that you have to advocate for them. I would think that's probably true anywhere though.

Thanks for your reply. I've heard good things about TE as well as Unionville. Good advice about being an advocate.

My brother was born with renal kidney failure and had serious learning disabilities. We moved out of Philly when he was only 5 years old and moved to Lansdale which is in the North Penn School District. When we moved here the school was amazing with how they taught him and with how much he learned. The teachers were absolutely wonderful and really provided the learning that he needed. North Penn is a very highly rated school district and might be one definitely worth checking out for your situation.
