I searched on google maps and the addresses are not that far away.
Why is there such a big difference? Is Spruce st towards an area that we should avoid and in general is there small pockets in Washington Square/Rittenhouse that we should try to stay away from?
Any help would be appreciated!!!Thanks.

Rittenhouse and Washington Square are both great neighborhoods. I would live in either but I don't think you will find anything for $800/month.

Beautiful area, with very little crime worries (Still be aware at night however, it's still Philly).

To me personally, If you're looking to be close by the action, also check out Fairmount or Fishtown for some good deals. Ditto Cedar Park out in W. Philly

haha... I live in that area and do hear them from time to time. However, I must say it was much worse when I was living in West Philadelphia and hearing helicopters and looking out my window to see the helicopter spotlights looking for criminals!

Lets face it, Philly is a noisy town. Helicopters have always been a feature, if only because of all the hospital trama units. You probably don't want to live across the street from a rooftop helipad. Traffic also makes a lot of noise because the buses and car horns reverbatate in the narrow canyon like streets. Also some areas are blessed with bars, clubs that attract noisy people who like to party in the street. If noise bothers you look for a newer building with double insulated windows or just don't live in Center City at all.

Even George Jefferson knew not to live on the ground floor.

I live pretty high up and it really doesn't make much difference. However my building did install double glazed solar tinted windows a few years ago and when they are closed (most of the time because of A/C, cold weather and dirt) the silence is eerie.
