Some say that it's just a number. That when you are 20 or 30 or 40, etc., there's nothing inherently significant about the number itself. How do you feel about that?
As true Self in the physical body (it's philosophy forum, right?) is timeless and immortal, it never feels time or time related change.
Physical body does though. As the result, it changes cloud the fine connections of Self with its physical abode.
But to your original question - yes, all those numbers are nothing but convenience developed by humans and of physical.
Guess, this is why I forbade family to celebrate my 60 and will do so from now on. A day is a day. Every one is a blessing and there is no reason to somehow prioritize one.

I can't see, hear, or hold it in anymore. My wife beats me out of the bathroom on long car trips now. you know the kind, longer than an hour. yeah. its just a number all right. so is the the isle number for the depends.
Just saw rocker John Mayall perform a few weeks ago...he's 81 and looked and sounded great. Other rockers never make it out of their 20's. Lifestyle choices are yours to make...take care of your body!
I think there are a few defining points in time when a person becomes aware of changes going on within them, but if you are in reasonably good shape, for the most, it is just a steady ride ........ until we hit one of those bumps in life. Then we are likely to make comparisons with earlier times.

The only "inherently significant" thing about age is best described with the old adage..
The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.
In the mind it's just a number....but on our physical body it's unfortunately significant.
I also believe that age (for some people) brings knowledge and wisdom with it,
the mind grows and expands while the physical body deteriorates.
I here 'age is just a number' when people talk about dating. I disagree. It's not just a number. There's more to that. Look at Madonna. She's 56 years old, and was at one point dating a 22 year old. That in itself is not something most people who be outraged by, but subtract both of their ages by 10. Suddenly it's a problem.
Now, obviously, that's not quite how it works. So how does it work?
My view on this issue that age, on it's own, is at least partially anecdotal. The key is maturity. You're maturity reflects who you are, and no matter what, age and maturity are connected. There are mature 8th graders, but not 8th grader is as mature as a 68 year old war veteran. If experience molds your maturity and outlook, and as we age, those experiences become more diverse and meaningful.
So age is just a number but it's also indicative of a person's life in many ways.
