We are moving to the Phoenix area in the very near future from Wisconsin. I am looking for schools for my elementary aged children. I was wondering if anyone can offer info such as average class sizes, which are the better schools in the following districts, etc. on schools in Deer Valley School District, Peoria School District, Cave Creek District, and Scottsdale District. Any info is greatly appreciated!! Thanks

greatschools.com has info on class size and a some other stats including test scores.

If you check out each districts home page they have a lot of the same info.

Another thing to consider....In DVUSD(deer valley) all the schools are specialized. Some teach Mandarin, Music, Science, etc. Not sure of the other districts. All schools in AZ are open enrollment so you can have your kids go to any school you want(you drive them).

If we end up sending our kids to a public high school, we will send them (the smart ones anyways ) to a school the has an international baccalaureate program.

We also have charter schools in AZ, so that may be worth checking out(most will bus your kids up to 15 miles).

If you use the search feature, a link to a website that lists all of Phoenix's "excelling" schools has been posted several times. I'm sure a Google search would find it as well. It doesn't list class size or anything like that, though.

All I know is Cave Creek is the prettiest area you mentioned, Scottsdale's the wealthiest, the other two blow. Well, Scottsdale blows too.

Alrightythen. So "only" Cave Creek doesn't "blow"? Sometimes posts on here are unbelievable....

Here are some links to schools listed as "Excelling":

This article from last July provides some info on what schools are excelling in a couple of the areas you mentioned for public and charter schools. You might have to do some more digging on Deer Valley and Peoria. NE Valley schools show progress on state ratings

Forgot to mention...there are some schools up in N. Scottsdale that fall into the Paradise Valley School District. If you're looking up there you might want to look at the school district boundary maps versus the mls boundary maps.
