Hello, anyone from the Bay Area living in the West Valley? How do you like it? I really want to get out of Northern Ca. Just too expensive. My sister comapany is in Tolleson and I'm thinking about transfering. I would like to hear your comments.

Thanks

6 years in Berkeland. Two armed robberies, one car-jacking, and a wildfire of Biblical proportions (I was a witness).

I lived in S.F. for a year awhile ago. It's MUCH cheaper here and lower crime. I like Phoenix metro better, some others don't. It's a matter of personal taste and attitude. I recommend you visit and check us out.

Currently live in Livermore Ca, but there is no way I can ever retire here. I have been to Az 4 times now and I plan on going again in April. I have'nt been there in the summer and that is what is scarring the heck out of me. What ever information you can share would be helpful.

We lived in Danville for 38 years and loved it. We moved to Gilbert 6 years ago and haven't looked back.

Chico, which is inland. Most of our clients were from the Bay area trying to find cheaper retirement spots in CA. It is painfully expensive and that is why we left. You will love AZ once you aclimate to our summers. Did not take us that long to start to look forward to the inferno. I hated being cold up north.

Just curious, but is there anything other than housing that you find significantly more expensive there?

I lived in Northern Cal for several years, but grew up in AZ. I love it here in AZ. Much more affordable, nicer place to live. Great for raising a family. If you are the type who loves the ethnic foods of Nor Cal, and all the cultural stuff, you'll hate it here. Not much in the way of great ethnic cuisine, or culture.

Gas is far more expensive, taxes as well. All the little things are just more expensive.

and I must add that even as a registered Republican, I had a great time living in Berkeley and Oakland. The bar/restaurant scene in the DC area is not in the same league as the East Bay, let alone SF.

Livermore may be the part of the entire bay area that is most like Phoenix--very hot, and quite a few more white people than other urban areas. The death heat is less than two months--that's a small price to pay for not having to snow blow your roof.
